Mrs. Byrnes Dictionary of Unusual, Obscure, and Preposterous Words & Letters

A Typographic Collaboration by Ms. Susan Laporte and Mr. Chad Reichert

Introduction
This typographic exhibition began collaboratively with the following facts;

1. There are twenty-six letter in the Roman alphabet;
2. There are two designers collaborating, with names that contain both an odd and even number of letters;
3. There were two very obscure, identical dictionaries found by chance at the John King Bookstore in Detroit, MI.

Goal
1. Make a complete alphabet of experimental letters each creating their set separate from one another.

Think
1. Let’s randomize our starting point by using chance methods to identify our prompts using an unorthodox dictionary;
2. Adjectives only

Make
Ms. LaPorte designed odd numbered letters
A/1
(1st adjective in the A section)
C/3
(3rd adjective in the C section)
etcetera, and so on…

Mr. Reichert designed even numbered letters
B/2
(2nd adjective in the B section)
D/4
(4th adjective in the D section)
etcetera, and so on…

Play
1. Use any tools you wish, but try to make one letter each day for 2 weeks;
2. Let’s use the RISO!
