Overview
¡MATALO! is a story about a typeface set at the turn of the century. Inspired by the spaghetti western movie genre, this tale is full of characters you don’t want to mess with. ¡MATALO! is opinionated, not afraid to stand up for itself and is willing to put up the good fight.
The namesake is comprised of 1/2 inch plywood that has been laser cut. The 18 x 12 prints are a collection of movie quotes from well known and obscure spaghetti western titles. The 12 x 12 squares showcase letters that have multiple identities while the smaller squares are characters that pack a punch.
In November 2016, ¡MATALO! was featured at the CCS Valade Family Gallery in Detroit, Michigan. In February 2017, it was featured at the Typeforce 8 exhibition at Co-Prosperity Sphere Gallery in Chicago.
