Overview

Susan LaPorte and Chad Reichert are professors in the Communication Design and Strategy department who share a passion for typography and letterforms. Despite their busy schedules teaching, they actively seek opportunities to collaborate on short-term projects that embrace spontaneity and playfulness. Design sprints that challenge themselves and encourage their personal growth. Developing collaborative projects among faculty in higher education is essential, especially in our current national climate. As educators, it is crucial to find ways to build college communities, rethink methods of creation, foster trust, and model playful collaborative practices from which students can learn and grow.

This book is a amalgamation of the work and presentation that Susan and Chad delivered at TypeCon 2024. It showcases the outcomes of their recent collaboration, discusses how chance influenced their engagement rules, and outlines their design process. This book is the first of what we hope are many more documents to come.
