not being too mobile last summer, the girls are really enjoying the good weather.. all we need to say let’s go outside and they run screaming for the door. nana and grandpa bought the twins a wagon for christmas, which has become their favorite ride. their other favorite activity is pushing around the stroller collecting rocks. a great summer ahead, indeed.

yet again, it’s been a long time since we last posted. with the end of the academic year for chad, workshop season for heidi, a move to a new house in june and two girls with boundless energy, needless-to-say, life has been fun but very busy. so this pict was from mid april when we went down to beecher to celebrate numerous birthdays. great sunny weekend. one of the other reasons for the visit was a trip back to valpo to play in the alumni  soccer game. one the the current players reminded me he was three when i was on the team. nice. almost 20 years since i last played. and it certainly was evident. had a great time and good to see the program is in good hands. a very talented  squad who is starting to emerge as a regional/national force.

pretty in pink

April 4th, 2010

this weekend was full of pink: flowers, easter eggs, dresses and eyes. mina and zoie decided to wake up on from a sunday nap with an eye infection. after a short visit to the after hours care and a couple prescriptions, they are slowly on the mend. on other fronts, the weather in michigan has been great. it’s been an average of 70 degrees the last  4 or 5  days. on saturday we had a picnic at nichols arboretum in aa. besides the wrong turn that took us off-roading with the stroller, the girls really enjoyed playing in the park.  sunday was another nice day. a great church service and some relaxation was the perfect way to give thanks and celebrate the blessings of easter.

video updates

April 2nd, 2010

three favorite video out takes: two from the past week and one from our  last major snowstorm. the winter sledding is one of our favorites. watch closely as mina gets a more than she bargains for and we both narrowly escape collision at the end.

easter egg hunt

March 28th, 2010

our church held their annual egg hunt. despite the cool weather, the ladies enjoyed themselves. with baskets in hand, it took all of 5 seconds to understand what they needed to do. soon the baskets were filled up with eggs. that is, until a young’n came over with a backpack and started cleaning out mina’s basket.  thankfully one egg is all they needed to be satisfied. AND the twins have demonstrated an early streak of luck. once back in the church with the 75+children, they drew names for easter baskets. mina and zoie’s names were pulled #1 and #2, garnering them the sponge bob square pants themed prize. time to go to the casino, i suppose.

a year later…

i was taking some pictures the other day and  remembered these shots of the girls from a year ago.  i decided to take these to show how much they have grown both in personality and size. amazing.

It finally happened

March 21st, 2010

The bathtub floater. I was giving the girls a bath the other night and Zoie stood up, tooted and pushed a terd-let out. It happened so fast I didn’t have time to plop her on the toilet. THANK GOODNESS they were over a bout of diarrhea from earlier this week! Can you even imagine? Of course, I was mortified, but not so bad that I left it there so Chad could witness it. Look what your daughter did, I said. Mina was a little upset that she had to exit the bath early, but I didn’t feel good about her sucking-in the poo water. How do you explain that to a 1 year old?

Hence this post is photo-free.

a day at the park

March 15th, 2010

it’s mid-march and we are in the midst of some unseasonably great weather. after a long february and a good amount of snow, the 66 degree day at the park was a much needed respite. as the girls continue to be active and in need of more stimulation, the park near our house offers a nice break from the confines of the house. both are starting to walk with confidence, while mina is a bit more adventurous climbing. zoie likes the swings. but both enjoy exploring. it continues to amaze us how tall they are both getting. and yes, they are finally growing hair after almost 17 months!

playing around

March 7th, 2010

needless-to-say the twins are into everything. if it’s not locked, the contents are emptied or the girls are crawling inside. they are starting to work together… watch out.
